Strawberries

The strawberry is a type of fruit first bred in the 1750s. It’s use and cultivation has spread around the world.

Storage

Strawberries tend to last about a week before going bad, but depending on method of storage, may last as long as two weeks. Storing them unwashed in their original container, or unwashed in an air-tight container with a paper towel lining tend to make them last the longest.

Usage

Strawberries range from very sweet to slightly tart. The entire fruit including the seeds are edible. While the leaves on top of the fruit are edible, many people cut off the greens and discard them.
