Farm 2 School Programming
-
Harvest of the Month is an interactive program where Avenue 33 Farm staff hosts monthly, on-site taste tests of different fruit and vegetable varieties at K-12 schools. Students discover their palates, learn health benefits and food chain journeys - all through a consistent hands-on experience.
Students will be introduced to concepts including seasonal eating, healthy diets, and local economies. By participating in HOTM, schools strengthen local growing networks by ordering locally grown, seasonal produce for student exposure.
Teachers can extend these results into their classroom by having students assist with data collection, analysis, and narrative creation. -
We offer field trips for grades TK through 12 to expose students to urban farming in LA. A 1.5 hour tour includes a farm tour, taste test, and an age appropriate scavenger hunt.
One of our goals is to get students excited about healthy, fresh produce. We put together a snack pack featuring what is currently seasonal from the farm and our farm partners. Depending on availability students may be able to harvest an item from the farm.
From planting seeds and making their own farm salads to exploring compost and more, we offer a variety of seasonal hands-on activities. We love collaborating with teachers to align our activities with what students are learning in the classroom.

Technical assistance is the term we use to describe the services we offer to help you create or maximize your school’s growing space. With ample farming and outdoor education experience, we are well equipped to make your vision a reality. We most recently designed and built an outdoor classroom for our local TK-high school campus!
