Green Beans

Green beans are young, unripe fruits of various cultivars of the common bean. Green beans are known by several common names, including French beans, string beans, and snap beans or simply "snaps".

Storage

To keep fresh green beans crisp and prevent them from turning slimy, store them unwashed in a breathable, open or perforated plastic bag lined with a paper towel inside the refrigerator's crisper drawer. They will stay fresh for up to 7 to 10 days.

Usage

Green beans are a versatile vegetable used in cooking for side dishes, casseroles, stir-fries, soups, and salads. They can be steamed, roasted, sautéed, or pickled, and they provide a good source of fiber, vitamins A, C, and K, and plant-based protein.
